It allows my barbecue to go up a notch, prevents grease from dripping into the bowl and so on. My meats are always tender and tasty and I only have to wash the stone rather than the whole bowl. Great investment. :)
I was a bit skeptical about the usefulness of a lava stone at first, but after testing it, I'll never go back. The quality is top-notch, and it's really easy to use. What's more, it doesn't take up any space in my kamado and makes cooking so much more even. My steaks are now always juicy, and it's changed the way I cook on the barbecue.
I must confess that I had no idea what a 'heat deflector' was until I tried this lava stone. But now I'm totally blown away! The heat is distributed so much more evenly, I don't have to worry about my meats burning. Everything cooks more gently, and the result is really top-notch. I had no idea that a simple accessory could make such a difference!
I've always wanted a cast-iron skillet like this! I use it mainly for sautéing vegetables, and the cooking is incredible. The cast iron heats evenly and retains the heat well, so you get a nice caramelization without burning. I'm delighted, and what's more, the wooden stand is superbly elegant for serving at the table.
I dropped it on the ground (it was still empty!) on stones; not a scratch! It's a really quality product, thick and well finished. Top-of-the-range quality. Can't wait to cook with it (something other than stones!)
I've used this pan to cook vegetables and meats, and it's become one of my must-have accessories. The cooking is top-notch, nothing burns and everything stays nice and juicy. What's more, I can use it with the cooking bell to really concentrate the flavours, which is a real treat.
